About St. Gonzaga Primary School
Education Program
St. Gonzaga Primary school and Rescue Centre was established by the Brothers of St. Charles Lwanga in the year 2005 to provide quality basic needs such as education, meals, and shelter to vulnerable children from especially difficult circumstances.
The center provides elementary education to kindergarten and primary school children with a focus on orphans and vulnerable children from poor backgrounds within the society.

Project Profile
The school offers social work services to both children and parents in order to create a strong bond between the community and the school. The social work element helps in building a strong family unit. The school provides education to boys and girls and takes gender issues as well as children’s rights very seriously.
The school does very well academically, socially and morally and this helps the students and enhances discipline and order to the learners and the community at large.
General Information
CIVS solely depends on volunteer contributions to support its activities.
The fee has to be paid upfront on arrival in full.
300 Euros
It covers the following services:
- Airport transfers (Arrival and Departure)
- 3-day orientation seminar
- Introduction to the city
- Accommodation and food during orientation and during placement duration
- Coordination and office support
The following costs are NOT included:
- Visa costs and ticket flight
- Local travelling: from the office to the project
- Direct donations to the project
- Cost of sightseeing
- Cost of drinks like soda, beer, mineral water etc.
All volunteers taking part in this project will be picked up from Jomo Kenyatta International Airport, Nairobi.
There will be an orientation seminar for new volunteers lasting three days including Nairobi city introduction.
The volunteer will be accommodated at the project site and all meals will be provided.
Sleeping bag, sleeping mat, and mosquito net are necessary. You can also bring photos of your country, clothes, books, pens, toys etc
During weekends, volunteers can visit :
- Kakamega forest
- Lake Victoria,
- Kisumu Museum,
- the Equator line
- Kisumu city
CIVS Kenya organizes tours and safaris to spectacular sites of interest in Kenya. Volunteers, who wish to participate, should let us know as soon as possible in order to enable us to make proper arrangements. The fee charged is all-inclusive of meals, transport, park entry fees, accommodation and tour guiding.
The cost of a 3-days safari to Masai Mara National Reserve is 400 Euros by Tour van and 480 Euros by a Landcruiser jeep.
It includes: –
Day 1: Nairobi – Maasai Mara: game viewing drive in the evening
Day 2: Maasai Mara game viewing drive in the morning and the evening
Day 3: Maasai Mara game viewing drive in the early morning
VOLUNTEER ACTIVITIES
The volunteer will be an integral part of community life:
- School activities include assisting to teach maths, English, and sciences
- Organizing games for the children and playing with them
- HIV/AIDS campaign awareness programs to youth within the community
- General cleaning of the project and its surroundings: litter collection, sweeping, mopping, etc.
- Assisting with farm work in the project’s farm: Planting, weeding, watering the crops, etc.
- Environmental conservation exercises through the planting of trees
- Planning and engaging pupils in games and sports within neighboring schools
