Ajeligwa Community Development Group

Ajeligwa Community Development group that was established in the year 2009 to offer personal development to the poor people in the community. The group is comprised of 6 members who are involved in small projects like poultry keeping, beadwork carried out by women, Early Childhood education for orphans and vulnerable children and small scale agriculture.
Project Profile
There are 50 chicken for income generation, the small kindergarten has 10children and two teachers, while the farm has vegetables and animal feeds. The group also has a borehole for water selling. Life in this project is simple and in a local village with little facilities due to low living standards and poverty. In the year 2011, the group received a grant from the National Aids Council to conduct testing and Counselling of patients. They reached about 650 people who afterward received help.
Location
The project is located in Zululu village, Gambogi Vihiga County of Kenya.
Volunteering activities
- Assisting in working on the project’s farm and in the community farms
- Assisting in teaching kindergarten children
- Playing with the children
- Teaching the community something new
- Assisting in the creation and maintenance of a website and promotion of project activities
Accommodation and food
The volunteer will be accommodated in a host family in the project. Three meals will be provided in a day.
