Story of (Re)Birth: Wings of Hope NGO’s Efforts Towards Young Mothers Victims of Rape

Let’s dive into the inspiring universe of Wings of Hope Rescue Home, a beacon of hope in Nairobi. Since its humble beginnings in 2016, spearheaded by Irwin Mukonyole, it has been a true success despite limited resources. Girls who were once homeless, victims of rape and abuse, have found refuge in this haven of light, where love, support, and care are provided tirelessly.

Wings of Hope offers a haven of light, a place where every girl can find the love, support, and care she needs to rebuild her life.

Irwin, a man with a generous heart, was inspired to create Wings of Hope after witnessing many abandoned and desperate girls. He explains in his testimony available on our YouTube channel:

“A few years ago, I saw an urgent need in our community. Homeless pregnant girls, victims of rape and abuse, were left behind, without hope or support. I felt a deep calling to act. With the help of a few dedicated friends, we launched Wings of Hope to provide a safe haven for these vulnerable young girls. Since then, we have seen lives transformed and futures restored. But there is still much to be done. We need your support to continue our mission.”

Wings of Hope Rescue Home is not just a shelter; it is a sanctuary of support, healing, and growth. Girls receive not only a roof over their heads but also clothing, food, and medical care. Additionally, they benefit from sessions to help them overcome their trauma and envision a better future.

Despite all the work done, the Wings of Hope team acknowledges that they still need support. The needs remain significant, and without assistance, it will be impossible for them to fulfill their mission.

The dedicated team includes a resident nurse, caregivers, cooks, and other staff members who ensure the well-being of the girls and their babies. Every day, they work together to provide a safe and nurturing environment where these young girls can feel supported and encouraged.

However, as Irwin Mukonyole rightly emphasizes:
“It is crucial that we receive your support. We have urgent needs for services such as counseling, education, childcare, medical staff, psychological mentors, carpenters, bricklayers, gardeners, nurses, and midwives. Additionally, we need essential supplies such as food, clothing, toiletries, school supplies, Bibles, furniture, as well as finances for tuition fees, monthly bills, medications, construction, and expansion.”

From the outset of their project, many successes have been observed by the Wings of Hope team.

“Since the beginning of our project, we have had many successes. No girl has lost her life during childbirth, and we have seen many young mothers return to school to pursue their educational dreams. Each small victory is a step closer to a better future for these girls and their babies.”

The organization’s sustainability and the hope it inspires in our young beneficiaries – mothers and children – depend on generosity and altruism. Every donation, volunteer action, or simple sharing of their story advances the cause. Every gesture counts and makes a difference in the lives of these young girls.
